Hayley Atwell shares an impressive sneak peek into her training for Mission: Impossible 7 – Dead Reckoning Part 1. The film will feature Atwell’s Mission: Impossible debut. The upcoming Paramount Pictures spy film will be directed by Christopher McQuarrie, who also took the lead for Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation and Mission: Impossible – Fallout. Alongside Atwell, the cast will include franchise fixture Tom Cruise, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, Ving Rhames, and Simon Pegg reprising their roles, and brings in Esai Morales as the film’s primary antagonist.
Atwell has a varied and impressive career. She is no stranger to action films, having portrayed Peggy Carter through all of the MCU’s run, starting with an appearance in 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger. Outside the main MCU films and her Doctor Strange 2: Multiverse of Madness Captain Carter cameo, she voiced the character in Marvel’s What If…? as well as playing the character in 2015’s Agent Carter, which ran for two seasons. Atwell even reprised her role as Peggy in two episodes of Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D. Her character is a favorite among Captain America fans and MCU fans in general due to her tough and capable portrayal being balanced with a warm vulnerability.
Though the actress is no stranger to getting in shape for a role, she seems to have taken things to the next level in her training for her Mission: Impossible debut. Atwell shared a recent video via Instagram showing the lengths she’s going for her training.
Though Mission: Impossible fans are used to seeing franchise actors commit to the part, it is nevertheless impressive to see Atwell stretching over an expansive canyon. Based on Atwell’s previous post, she seems to be enjoying the scenic outdoors in Red Rocks, Arizona. Although Mission: Impossible 7 is filming in Atwell’s native UK, she has clearly found time to get some training in while in Arizona.
Mission: Impossible staple Cruise is known for going to great lengths, and sometimes heights, in his role as IMF agent and team leader Ethan Hunt. He often makes the news for his dedication to performing his own stunts which have placed him in precarious situations in the past. The most recent instance happened when Cruise was filming Dead Reckonings predecessor, Fallout. Filming was slightly delayed due to the actor snapping his ankle on set when attempting a dramatic stunt. Hopefully, Atwell’s commitment to her new role in the spy franchise will not result in history repeating itself. With her action-packed background, it’s likely that she will thrive in her next blockbuster franchise. Mission: Impossible- Dead Reckoning Part 1 is set to release on July 14, 2023, and viewers will be able to see firsthand how all her hard work has paid off.
