General Hospital spoilers reveal that the Cassadine family is big on curses. Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) was the first Cassadine to be introduced in 1981 (then played by Thaao Penghlis) when he wanted to use the Ice Princess diamond to freeze the world.
Mikkos Cassadine Was Frozen by Falling into an Ice Chamber
Mikkos Cassadine (John Colicos), Victor’s brother, was the Cassadine who devised the plan to use the Ice Princess gem. Tony Cassadine (Andre Landzaat), the brother of Victor and Mikkos, was slain in a struggle with Luke Spencer (Tony Geary), and Mikkos was frozen after falling into an ice chamber.
On their wedding day, Luke Spencer and Laura Spencer (Genie Francis) were cursed by Mikkos’s wife, Helena Cassadine (originally portrayed by the legendary Elizabeth Taylor, and later by Constance Towers), who held the couple responsible for her husband’s demise.
Victor was killed when the WSB bombed the Haunted Star with Victor on board. However, the simple truth is that while the Cassadine brothers and Helena are supposedly dead, no one can be sure about Cassadines.
And Victor is carrying on the curse even after his death. He has targeted troubled teen Charlotte Cassadine (Scarlet Fernandez) to do his bidding.
So basically, if anyone is qualified to help Charlotte, it is Laura, as she knows a thing or two about the Cassadine curse. Laura’s husband, Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom), warned Laura about Charlotte’s behavior today.
It seems as if Charlotte is on a dangerous path. First, Victor sent her the tarot cards from beyond the grave. Then, Charlotte terrorized Anna Devane (Finola Hughes). Victor had told Charlotte Anna was dangerous and would be the death of her papa, Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart).
The Cassadine Crest
Today, Charlotte was wearing the Cassadine crest around her neck. Kevin came into Charlotte’s room to see her wearing it and asked her about it, but Charlotte brushed it off.
That awkward exchange occurred after Kevin caught Charlotte talking to herself. She was looking into the mirror at her gunshot wound, proudly declaring that it was her “first battle scar.” Does this mean that Charlotte isn’t done with Anna yet?
Kevin told Laura about Charlotte, and Laura’s reaction was,
“All the years that I spent worrying about Nikolas, trying to wave him from the darkness he inherited from the Cassadines, I never dreamed that Charlotte would have to battle the same demons.”
Laura doesn’t want to lose Charlotte to Victor’s evil control. Laura has been dealing with the Cassadine family curse for decades. She’s seen how it causes nothing but damage and destruction. “Anything for family,” Charlotte uttered alone in her room.
Laura was informed by Kevin that Charlotte might be looking for strong role models to follow. Despite her ignorance of their evil nature when they were still living, Helena and Victor appear to be the family members she connects with the most.
It’s possible that only Laura can communicate with Charlotte. Charlotte is inheriting the Cassadine curse. She’s frightening people, reading tarot cards, and basically modeling herself after the darker members of the family. Before it’s too late, maybe Laura can help Charlotte overcome her demons.
