Paramount is bringing Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo back in action, and fans are already buzzing. Slated for a Fall 2025 premiere, the spinoff could become Paramount’s next big hitter, especially with the platform’s rumored fallout with Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan.
With Sheridan’s empire reportedly under pressure from budget cuts, Tony & Ziva might just slide into the spotlight as Paramount+ looks to double down on proven fan-favorite franchises. It’s a bold play — can a globe-trotting NCIS duo fill the cowboy-sized hole? Time will tell, but this one’s got major flagship potential written all over it.
Tony & Ziva’s big return: Can it outshine Yellowstone’s storm?
Why? Because Taylor Sheridan, the mind behind Yellowstone, Tulsa King, and 1923, isn’t exactly thrilled with Paramount’s recent moves. With the franchise king reportedly rattled over licensing deals and budget cuts, Sheridan’s once-untouchable throne could be wobbling. Meanwhile, the Tony-Ziva hype train is gaining speed.
This new NCIS offshoot f inally brings back Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo together onscreen after a decade (per TVLine). In Tony & Ziva, the fan-favorite duo is raising daughter Tali in Paris… until Tony’s security firm gets hit, sending the family into a Europe-wide chase packed with intrigue, spies, and that sweet, slow-burn romance.
Filmed across Budapest, the Canary Islands, and Paris, the 10-episode limited series is pure globe-trotting drama. As Weatherly put it, It was surprising how Cote and I just fell into this new place with our characters…Informed by the past, illuminated by the present and trying to see a future together. These characters are on the adventure of a lifetime. And hopefully, so is the viewer!
And Ziva? De Pablo teased “impossible situations” and “a little something about love.” John McNamara (The Magicians) is running the show, promising a serialized ride full of romance, espionage, and emotional chaos. Paramount is betting big on it, calling the Tony-Ziva arc one of the most unrequited love stories, and launching it globally on streaming.
With Sheridan’s Special Ops: Lioness already hitting Netflix abroad, and whispers of tension rising over control and cost, Tony & Ziva might just slide into that prestige drama slot.
