On December 15, Variety reported that Tom Cruise was furious when he saw two employees standing close together in front of a computer screen. In the audio clip, which lasted more than two minutes, Tom spoke non-stop. He said that the project was a model for Hollywood’s pandemic-era filmmaking, so violating social distancing regulations was unacceptable.
Tom said: “They’re back in Hollywood making movies right now because of us. Because they believe in us and what we’re doing. I talk to studios every night, insurance companies, producers, they’re looking at us and using us to make movies for them. We’re creating thousands of jobs, you bastards.”
In his anger, Tom refused to accept the employees’ apologies for what happened. “You can tell that to the people who lost their homes when this industry shut down. It’s going to leave them with no food, no money to pay their kids’ school fees. I lie awake at night worrying about the future of this fucking industry,” he said.
Tom Cruise warned the crew that if anyone broke the rules again, they would be fired. “I told you, and now I want you to obey, or else, get the hell out of here. We can’t stop making this fucking movie. Understand?” The actor used many strong interjections to express his anger.
Mission: Impossible 7, starring and produced by Tom Cruise, was scheduled to be released in July 2021 but was postponed due to Covid-19. In February, the actor had to cancel filming in Venice, Italy due to the outbreak in the country. At the end of July, the crew went to England to complete the movie after being facilitated by the government there.
Recently, Tom Cruise and his crew have been traveling between several European countries such as England and Norway to film. The actor spent $700,000 to rent two yachts for the crew to stay on to avoid having to quarantine for 14 days each time they changed locations.
