Prime Video viewers rave about ‘must see’ Clint Eastwood war movie based on true story

Movie fans have been waxing lyrical about a Clint Eastwood directed movie from 10 years ago which is now available on Prime Video. American Sniper, tells the true story of US Navy SEAL Sniper Chris Kyle, played by Bradley Cooper, who packed on 40lbs to play the part.

Kyle was officially the deadliest marksman in U.S. military history with 255 kills from four tours in the Iraq War, 160 of which were officially confirmed by the Department of Defense.

However he struggled with the toll of his work after serving in Iraq for years. When he returned home to his wife and son he developed PTSD which affected his relationships all while he was celebrated for his military successes.

It was first released in November 2014 the Express gave it four out of five stars at the time describing it as: “A typically thoughtful, unflashy Clint Eastwood production”.

It went on to become the 13th highest grossing film of the year worldwide. It was nominated for six Oscars including best actor for Cooper.

Viewers have been deeply affected by the film and gushed about it in their reviews describing it as “moving” and a “triumph”.
