The Terminator star and former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger wants to join Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone franchise sometime in the future.
Arnold Schwarzenegger would love to appear in the Yellowstone franchise. The modern Western revolves around the Dutton family, a group of ranchers who own the largest ranch in Montana. It’s filled with backstabbing, intrigue, family drama, and enough stars to launch the show into mainstream consciousness. Now, it may be about to draw the Terminator himself.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Schwarzenegger was asked if he would want to join Yellowstone, and his answer came with ease. Having been impressed with Yellowstone creator Sheridan’s work, Schwarzenegger is more than willing to join the Kevin Costner-led drama. He wouldn’t be the first mainstream actor to jump into the Yellowstone universe after Matthew McConaughey signed up for a Yellowstone sequel spin-off and Harrison Ford lined up for 1923. “Absolutely! I think [Taylor Sheridan] very talented. And the cast on [Yellowstone] is phenomenal. Today, I see much more of other people’s performances than I did in the ’80s, when I was only seeing myself. I was thinking: ‘I have to win.’ It was a competition against Sly, against others. ‘I have to be number one.'”
Where Schwarzenegger Could Appear In Yellowstone’s Future
The future of the Yellowstone franchise is as murky as its past. Kevin Costner is leaving Yellowstone, meaning that the patriarch of the Dutton family will be leaving with him. It leaves few chances for the show to reach what was once its peak, meaning the original series will be shutting down after the conclusion of Yellowstone season 5 part 2. That could spell problems for Schwarzenegger’s dream.
Luckily, the finale doesn’t need to be the true end. McConaughey’s upcoming sequel show will offer another chance for future stars to join the universe. Besides, there is still a long family history for the Duttons to explore in other shows. The Duttons have been ruling Montana for over a century, leaving ample room for Schwarzenegger to show his face and even pick up a starring role along the way.
The Yellowstone spinoff 6666 is also providing more opportunities to join the universe without having to cling to the Dutton name. The show will be set in Texas, offering an opportunity to enjoy a fresh setting and a new cast of characters. 6666 could be the perfect chance for Schwarzenegger to jump into Yellowstone without having to suspend too much disbelief about his sudden appearance.
