During Big Brother season 26, evicted houseguest Joseph Rodriguez compared his gameplay to that of Big Brother season 2 winner Dr. Will Kirby, and now host Julie Chen Moonves weighs in on whether Joseph was delusional for saying this. Joseph’s Big Brother season 26 strategy was to not win any competitions like iconic player Dr. Will. He wanted to win the whole game without winning any competitions during the season. However, when Joseph threw the week 7 Power of Veto competition, he left himself vulnerable to being nominated by Head of Household (HOH) Quinn Martin, which led to his eviction.
In an interview with EW, Julie was asked if she thought that Joseph was “delusional” when he compared himself to Dr. Will on Big Brother 26. She responded that it would an “exaggeration” to call him “delusional.” However, Joseph “has a point.” Julie went on to say that Joseph “did indeed copy Dr. Will by not winning a competition and being chill about it. But people probably think he’s delusional for drawing the comparisons because Dr. Will was charismatic about it. Joseph is liked by all in the house.”
Julie Chen Moonves Reveals Why Houseguests Keep Saving Angela Murray
Leah Peters Saved Angela With The Power Of Veto
Despite her dramatic antics and outbursts, two houseguests–Tucker Des Lauriers and Leah Peters–have saved Angela with the Power of Veto. Quinn wanted Angela out of the house because he feared that everyone would take her to the end. When Julie was asked why people keep saving Angela, she answered that she thinks that people in the house genuinely like her and see her as “a fun mom figure. Plus, they aren’t threatened by her so why not keep her? Plus, I bet they don’t want to get in trouble by their real moms by voting her out!”
Joseph is a different type of person from Dr. Will. Joseph was laid-back and under-the-radar, while Dr. Will was an evil genius. However, Joseph did help pull off T’kor Clottey and Kimo Apaka’s blindside of Cedric Hodges by flipping. Joseph made a mistake by not winning competitions because Big Brother 26 is a very different game from Big Brother 2, and players are more savvy because they’ve learned so much in the two-plus decades since Dr. Will played. Dr. Will’s strategy simply couldn’t work in modern Big Brother, especially with the BB A.I. Arena competition throwing in a third nominee.

Julie is right that the houseguests are most likely keeping Angela in the game because they aren’t threatened by her. However, it’s fascinating that they don’t see Angela as a threat when she’s won two HOH competitions and managed to escape eviction four times. She could definitely creep up on them and win the whole game if they’re not careful. If she did, Angela would be the first wife and mother ever to win Big Brother, which could get her sentimental votes. Whatever happens next, the Big Brother 26 houseguests should learn from Joseph’s eviction and always “expect the unexpected.”
Big Brother season 26 airs Sundays at 9 p.m. EDT and Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8 p.m. EDT on CBS.
