Big Brother 26’s Tucker Des Lauriers and Rubina Bernabe may not have been looking for a showmance coming into the BB house, but their romantic connection has created a power duo that’s saving their games. Currently in its fifth week of competition, Big Brother 26 has been an intense season of the long-running series. Bringing together 16 new houseguests for a summer-long power struggle, the contestants have been working hard to keep their standing as they move through long weeks of competition. Tucker, a 30-year-old Sales & Marketing Executive from New York, entered the game knowing he would quickly be a competitive threat. Making some of the riskiest moves of the game, like choosing not to use a hard-won veto on himself, Tucker has cemented his status as a major BB player, but he appears to be breaking one of the cardinal BB rules. Rubina, a 35-year-old Event Bartender, has been flying under the radar in the first weeks of competition, but with strong social skills and evident competitive abilities, is a strong player, even outside of her begrudging potential showmance with Tucker.

Although Tucker knew he would be a competitive threat after coming into Big Brother 26, he couldn’t have expected his time on the series would cement him as one of the biggest comp beasts to participate in the series in years. Having won two Power Of Veto competitions, two AI Arena competitions, and the coveted wall competition Head Of Household, Tucker’s resume is impressive but has painted a major target on his back. With wild social strategies and an interesting underdog alliance, Tucker has been a fascinating player to watch, and his connections with others has made him more complex.

Rubina has been flying under the radar, but being connected to Tucker early on in the game wasn’t ideal. When Tucker won his second power of veto and took himself off the block, Deepfake HOH holder Quinn Martin chose to put Rubina up on the block to try and take her out to weaken Tucker. While Tucker and her allies, T’Kor Clottey and Kimo Apaka, all fought to get votes for Rubina to stay in the game, the 35-year-old’s social game saved her throughout the week. Solidifying old connections and making new ones, Rubina developed relationships that kept her safe.

Making connections with her allies and developing an unexpected alliance, Tucker’s benefitted from Rubina, just as she’s benefitted from his ability to keep her safe in the game by winning competitions. The new Big Brother showmance is a power duo with different skillsets that could keep them safe in the game for ages.
