The long-running CBS series “Blue Bloods” is a police procedural drama with a twist. Rather than following only a group of detectives, the show focuses on several generations of the Reagan family and their respective careers in different areas of law enforcement.

Erin Reagan (Bridget Moynahan), the only daughter of NYPD Police Commissioner Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck), is an assistant district attorney who often finds herself at odds with her family. However, the Irish-Catholic family usually manages to work things out by their weekly Sunday dinners.

In addition to exploring the personal and family lives of its characters, “Blue Bloods” also delves into their romantic lives. Sergeant Jamie Reagan (Will Estes) and his wife, Officer Eddie Janko-Reagan (Vanessa Ray), are the fan-favorite couple, but many viewers are also curious about what’s next for Erin.

Here’s what Bridget Moynahan had to say about whether or not Erin will find her Mr. Right.

Erin Reagan and Jack Boyle’s timing was off

To celebrate “Blue Bloods” hitting 250 episodes, the cast answered fan questions with TV Insider. One segment of the interview focused on the characters’ love lives, with Tom Selleck speculating about whether Frank, a longtime widow, will ever put himself back into the world of dating and Will Estes and Vanessa Ray weighing in on a possible Jamko baby.

Bridget Moynahan was asked when Erin gets to meet her Mr. Right — and she revealed that this already happened. “I think Erin met Mr. Right,” she said. “He was Jack Boyle (Peter Hermann), her ex-husband. It just wasn’t the right timing.”

Although Erin and Jack’s divorce predates the start of “Blue Bloods,” it’s clear that the characters still care for one another. They will always stay connected due to their daughter, Nicky Reagan-Boyle (Sami Gayle), and their overlapping careers.

Erin and Jack may one day rekindle their romance, but for now, Moynahan is content without a love interest. In an interview with Glamour, she admitted that she doesn’t see the point in trying to force a romantic storyline.

“(Erin Reagan) was introduced on the show as a single, newly divorced, single parent,” Moynahan said. “And I felt like there’s some strength and relatability in that for a lot of people.”
