As far as people can recall, what made Hollywood the premier film industry of the world were the iconic Cowboy films that people are fond of to this day. And the biggest name during that flourishing time for the industry was Clint Eastwood, also crowned as the OG action star from the wild west films of the past.
And thus, with an illustrious career spanning more than half a century, the star has become one of the oldest veterans of Hollywood, inspiring the next generation of stars. Among the youngsters, Scott Eastwood, the Dirty Harry star’s son, is a student who has learned a lot about the business from his father, who once advised him to make a decision to leave a multi-billion dollar franchise.
Clint Eastwood Made His Son Leave The Suicide Squad And The DCEU
Spending almost all his life in the service of the world of cinema, veteran action star Clint Eastwood has achieved what only a select few can in their careers. May it be performing in front of a camera or sitting behind one and directing it, Eastwood has done all of it and succeeded. Therefore, when it comes to his son Scott Eastwood, he wishes to impart the wisdom he has acquired from all these years in the film industry, which has shaped the young actor’s career.
During a past interview, the son of the veteran star talked about how he was not present during the reiterated version of James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. Earlier in 2016, when David Ayer directed the film, it featured Scott Eastwood as Lt. GQ Edwards as one of the main team members alongside the villains that also included Will Smith as Deadshot. The Wrath Of Man star explained that due to circumstances, alongside his father’s advice, he took his leave from the film as well as the DCEU franchise. He said:
“They didn’t want to pay me any money for those next movies, and … they didn’t have another script for the other movie, so I didn’t know what I was going to be signing myself up for. (His Father) said, ‘If it feels like they really need you and if it’s a good part, then do it. If not, then don’t.’ I didn’t have the answer to those questions at that time. I wasn’t going to have the answers, and they were pressuring me. So ultimately it didn’t happen,”
Therefore, taking his father’s advice along with witnessing the failure of the original film, Scott Eastwood didn’t return to the DCEU.
What Was Suicide Squad About?
Bringing the rag-tag team of villains and misfits from the pages of DC Comics, Suicide Squad was the effort put by DCEU to bring all the villains from the comic books to the big screen in an attempt to make them work for the safety of the United States from supernatural threats that riddle the world. While the attempt was admirable, the execution of the film seemed to lack the expression and narration that we saw in 2021’s The Suicide Squad which was directed by now-DC Films CEO James Gunn.
