LIBERTY — Corbin Theatre Company will present the well-known story of Laura Ingalls and her family in “Little House on the Prairie, The Musical” Thursday through Saturday, Jan. 18 to 20.
This musical follows the Ingalls’ family journey westward to the Dakota territory and their settlement where Ma and Pa hope to make a better life for their children.
The musical tells the familiar story of their struggle to keep their land. In story, song and dance, the audience will journey with the Ingalls through the hardships of blizzards and fires as well as their rejoicing in the settlement of land and town. Most of all, the story follows Laura as she grows from the wild child who loves to run free into a woman who embraces the responsibilities of her own future while struggling to remain true to herself.
The production involves a cast of 48, with the youngest cast member being 3 years old. This production is directed by Maggie Thomas with choreography by Lauren Rankin and vocal direction by Laura Warren Barge.
The musical is appropriate for all ages.
The show will be presented in the Peters Theatre in Brown Hall on the campus of William Jewell College, 500 College Hill, Liberty. Show times are 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Sunday with an additional matinee performance at 2 p.m. on Saturday. Tickets are available online at corbintheatre.org.
