Criminal Minds: Evolution is adding its first new cast member. Continuing after the hectic events in the Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2 finale, the upcoming season 3 episodes will pick up after the antagonistic Elias Voit (Zach Gilford) is stabbed in prison. It’s unclear if he survives, which will have to be addressed when the Paramount+ series returns. However, in addition to the Voit mystery and the expanding Gold Star storyline, the crime drama revival is also welcoming a new face.

Deadline now confirms that Aimee Garcia, who played Ella Lopez on Lucifer, is joining Criminal Minds: Evolution season 3. She’ll play Dr. Julia Ochoa in a multi-episode arc. Described as one of the country’s leading neuropsychiatrists, Dr. Ochoa is assigned to help a high-profile patient recover from his injury-induced brain trauma. But she clashes with Alvez (Adam Rodriguez) who, by contrast, believes in a more aggressive approach than her gentle approach.

Aimee Garcia’s Recent Roles, Explained
Garcia Is Also A Writer.

As she joins Criminal Minds: Evolution season 3, Lopez is well-known for her performance as Ella in Lucifer, a role she played from season 2 until the end of the series. Ella began as a forensic scientist at the LAPD and gradually became folded into the story more as the supernatural drama continued. But she’s a familiar face on television, having appeared in some of the most long-running series, such as Supernatural, CSI, and ER.

Based on the character description, Dr. Ochoa could be positioned as a potential love interest for Alvez down the road.

Her other major television roles include playing Jamie Batista in Dexter, a main cast member role in season 8. She also played Veronica Palmero in George Lopez. On the big screen, Garcia appeared in movies such as Spanglish and Dear Evan Hansen. She also co-starred in Christmas with You, a Netflix rom-com movie, opposite Freddie Prinze Jr. In addition to her on-camera work, Garcia is a writer. She formed a writing partnership with retired wrestler AJ Mendez, known to WWE fans as AJ Lee, and the duo co-wrote Blade of the 47 Ronin. They also collaborate on comics.

Based on the character description, Dr. Ochoa could be positioned as a potential love interest for Alvez down the road. More distressingly, given that she is a new addition to the Criminal Minds: Evolution cast, Garcia’s character could be killed off. Given that the Paramount+ revival is already casting news, it might not be too long of a wait to find out.
