Drama unfolded on Sunday night’s episode of Farmer Wants a Wife when Farmer Dean received a mysterious message about one of the contestants vying to win his love.
Rumours began spreading amongst the contestants that Dean had received a text claiming one of his favourite ladies, Teegan, had a boyfriend outside the show and was in love with him.
“One of the girls from Tom’s farm just informed me that there’s some sort of message to do with Teegan,” 24-year-old paralegal Tiffany said in a to-camera interview.
Tiffany then went directly to Dean to ask him if he had received a message and, if so, what the message was about.
“Yep, yep, I received a message … and Teegan, it’s about you,” he said awkwardly, turning to Teegan who was sitting directly beside him.
“Can we see it?” Tiffany asked, as Dean pulled out his phone to read the message.
“It says, ‘I hope you see this in time, but Teegan has a boyfriend, she might be leading you on, she’s in love with someone at home’.
“That’s the message I got. And it says …”
Dean didn’t have time to finish his sentence before Teegan got up and stormed off without saying a word, breaking down in tears.
Later, Tiffany said she was surprised Teegan had run off instead of explaining the situation.
“I don’t think I would have run off crying,” she said.
“I mean, you don’t have a reaction like that unless it could be true?”
Dean proceeded to chase after Teegan and gave her a big hug as she cried.
“You know that’s not true,” she said tearfully.
“Thank you for coming up after me.”
In a separate interview, Teegan said hearing about the text message Dean had received was “horrible”.
“Knowing that someone’s trying to, like, jeopardise my experience … you don’t win anything from this show other than falling in love in love with someone, so I don’t know why you’d come on this show and waste your time if you’re not here for the right reasons,” she said.
“My biggest fear now is that Dean will always doubt me and not trust me, but I’m here and I’m absolutely going to fight for Dean.”
As Dean’s other hopefuls watched him hugging and consoling Teegan, Hayley observed with a wry laugh: ‘Well, it’s just brought them closer together!”
Hayley could see there was already a strong connection between Dean and Teegan — and seeing Dean consoling her was the last straw.
Feeling she had no chance with him, Hayley decided there and then that it was time to leave the show.
That left Dean with only two ladies to choose from for his next solo date — Teegan or Tiffany.
“I just think there’s a bit more to find out about her and dig a bit deeper to find out the truth, so the lady I’m choosing on the solo date is Teegan,” he declared to host Samantha Armytage.
That left Tiffany looking unimpressed..
“Bit brutal,” she admitted.
“But hopefully he will really dig deeper into the message (he received).
“She hasn’t actually fully denied it, she just kind of ran off.”
Despite the drama, Dean said he was “pretty happy with where I am right now with Teegan.”
“But I really want to ask her a few more questions.”
