Spoilers for General Hospital flow Kelly Monaco’s character Sam McCall told Dominic Zamprogna’s character Dante Falconeri (who was asleep) that she had important news to impart and that he was the only person she wanted to tell.
She needs him to wake up, of course. While some fans interpreted her words as her wanting to inform Dante that Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) is still alive, others heard a different undertone and suggestion in her voice. Is Sam going to be Dante’s next parent?
And if so, will he miss out on this experience with her? If Dante is projected to be in a coma for an extended period of time, it may leave room for Sam to start relying on someone else to assume his role in her child’s life. Will it be Jason filling those shoes all over again, despite it not being his baby?
Baby On Board
When Sam walked into Dante’s hospital room last week and told him she had big news and he was the only person she wanted to share it with, many of us assumed she was referring to Jason’s suddenly alive status. But she knows it’s likely that Dante already knows Jason is alive.
So we have to infer that she was talking about someone else. Was all that talk months ago about whether or not to have a baby — but being happy if they unexpectedly got pregnant — foreshadowing of a surprise pregnancy for Sante?
Report History Often Repeats Itself
Jason might be the most suitable candidate to take Sam’s place as the baby’s father. He has done it before, after all. Lila McCall, Sam’s stillborn daughter, was born years ago.
In actuality, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) was the baby’s father. However, it was Jason and Sam—not Sam and Sonny—who were meant to be together at that particular moment.
Now that she’s deeply in love with his boy, who would have been her stepson had she and Sonny formalized their relationship, we all attempt to act as though she was never his brief mistress.
Will Jason step up to the plate once again to be there for Sam in her time of need, and in Dante’s absence, or might someone else take up that mantle this time around?
Does This Open the Door For Dante And Lulu Falconeri ?
Much the same way we know Jason and Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) could never be together unless Sam and Sonny were quite over and done with them both, Dante and Lulu Falconeri (Emme Rylan) can’t just couple up with Sam waiting in the wings for Dante.
It’s much more likely that Sam will wake up and come to terms with the world he’s entering if he moves on with someone else while Dante is unconscious, just like he did with her when Lulu was unconscious.
If Dante leaves Sam’s life amicably, even though they have a kid together, does that mean he can reconnect with Lulu, the true love of his life, should she ever open her eyes again?
