On General Hospital, Jake Spencer hasn’t been around in a while. However, in the real world, actor Hudson West has a big reason to celebrate.
Happy Birthday, Hudson West!
And that’s because he was born on March 3, 2008, in Dayton, Ohio, which means that this very talented younger actor turns 16 today! West was only 6 years old when he landed his first professional gig — a nationally aired commercial — and soon afterward, he and his family headed for Los Angeles, where far greater opportunities existed for the budding thespian.
Interestingly, 2014 proved a banner year for West, as he appeared in several short films — including When the Game Falls Down and Minnow Tank — and the TV series Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn.
He made his film debut in Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 (2015), and subsequently appeared in Of Fortune and Gold (2015), and another short titled Embedded (2015). In 2016, he landed the role of Marcia Clark’s son, Travis, in the FX miniseries American Crime Story: The People vs O.J. Simpson, as well as the part of GH’s Jake Spencer.
West first appeared on GH on April 25, 2016, replacing incumbent actor James Nigbor. During his tenure with the soap, West’s character has endured a variety of hardships, including learning that the man he thought was his father (whose face had been altered by plastic surgery) was actually his uncle and struggling with residual brainwashing that nearly resulted in him unleashing a plague onto the unaware townsfolk.
West’s many other credits include recurring roles on Grace and Frankie (2016-2019), Teachers (2017-2018), Penny Dreadful: City of Angeles (2020), and Like It Was Yesterday (2021), as well as several voice roles for cartoons such as Clarence (2016), We Bare Bears (2017), and Shimmer and Shine (2018). In 2018, West competed on Dancing with the Stars: Junior. He was partnered with Kameron Couch and mentored by Hayley Erbert.
