General Hospital Update: Make Sam McCall And Dante Falconeri A Priority

We’re still waiting for a big Sam McCall and Dante Falconeri story.

General Hospital’s Sam McCall and Dante Falconeri are one of Port Charles’ most rock-solid couples. They’re adorable together and have created a nice life for themselves and their blended family. They’re one of those pairings you don’t have to worry about.

Sam and Dante: A Protective and Proactive Pair

In addition to being great parents, they each are a source of comfort, advice, protection and, sometimes, muscle, to whoever’s in need. They also back up their words of wisdom with their considerable investigative skills.

Sam’s (Kelly Monaco) invaluable help made it easier for Cody (Josh Kelly) to break into Ferncliff so he could help Sasha (Sofia Mattsson). Sonny (Maurice Benard) appreciates Dante’s (Dominic Zamprogna) supportive ear — he can talk to his son about Nina (Cynthia Watros) in a way he can’t talk to his other kids. Plus, Dante’s the one who showed up in the nick of time and shot Mason (Nathanyael Grey) after he kidnapped Ava (Maura West).

We Still Want more for Sam McCall and Dante Falconeri

Almost a year ago, Soap Hub’s Alina Adams wrote a much-needed article based on a Sam and Dante-centric poll where fans voted on potential storylines for the couple. Back then, they were busy supporting other people’s stories — investigating Lucy’s (Lynn Herring) “death” and framing Anna (Finola Hughes) for said “murder.” It was time for them to experience their own GH problems to spice up their lives.

Fast forward 11+ months and they’re basically in the same place. Substitute Lucy’s “death” for investigating Charlotte’s (Scarlett Fernandez) shooting or helping Cody break out of Ferncliff or mediating the weirdness going on between Kristina (Kate Mansi) and Molly (now Kristen Vaganos).

Heroes of their Own Story

Sam and Dante have done their duty supporting every other story on the canvas. It’s past time to treat them like a priority. Clearly, Kelly Monaco and Dominic Zamprogna can handle bigger and better things, they’ve both done it before.

We don’t need to see them suffer…too much. Happiness on soaps is an underrated occurrence. However, giving them drama in the form of opposing forces or titanic obstacles is a good thing. In last year’s poll, almost half of the fans who voted felt the obvious story to mix things up for Sam and Dante was waking up Lulu. It’s still a story that would work. How long has she been in a coma at this point — they need to wake that woman up already!

There are other ways to generate complications for them. To paraphrase a saying, the couple that investigates together, stays together. Let them work a crime or tackle a mystery, one that affects the couple or threatens their peaceful existence. Is that too much to ask?
