Harrison Ford Is Open to Return for More ‘Yellowstone’ Shows

Yellowstone can’t afford to lose another Dutton family patriarch. Ever since Harrison Ford took over for Kevin Costner in 1923 (well, spiritually), the 82-year-old actor knows more than anyone what that position means for the fans. So, when asked if he would return to the Yellowstone universe at a FYC event in Los Angeles this past Sunday, Ford joked, “I’m still alive.”

“I have no idea what [Taylor Sheridan’s] plans are,” Ford continued, according to The Hollywood Reporter, though he told the crowd he would return if Sheridan “asks nice.”

Luckily, the Yellowstone creator has a solid history of convincing Ford to join his projects. Reportedly, the Indiana Jones star originally boarded 1923 because Sheridan wined and dined him at his Texas ranch. “I poured about two bottles of wine down him.

He said yes,” Sheridan told Deadline in 2022. “I got him on the plane as fast as I could, closed the deal and said, send me the next one. Then came Helen [Mirren], and same thing. Have a glass of wine.”

1944 is the next prequel series spin-off in line for the Yellowstone-verse. The time jump from 1923 likely means that John Dutton II would lead the series as a young 20-year-old, though cast members Brandon Sklenar (Spencer Dutton) and Julia Schlaepfer (Alex) have expressed their interest in returning as well. If not, the 1923 season 2 finale provided a fitting end to their love story.

According to Ford, he thought the finale “was fantastic.” He called it, “very tight storytelling” in his talk with THR and remarked that he was “absolutely delighted” with the way the story ended.

“It’s not a simple cowboys and Indians movie,” Ford continued. “It’s a really complicated story about a really complicated history, and there’s a lot of incredibly searing detail in it… So happily, we had a writer that wrote that complication into it.”
