Home and Away’s Georgie Parker temporarily left the show to star in a play for Sydney’s Ensemble Theatre as well as undergo major surgery. Her character, Roo Stewart, has been absent from our screens for a while now – and some fans want to make her exit permanent.
The writers sent Roo away to visit her nephew Ryder Jackson (Lukas Radovich) on a cruise ship, where he works as a mixologist. After a fan asked where Roo was in a popular Facebook fan group, many replied saying they hoped she would “never come back”.
“Forgot she even existed!” one exclaimed, while another agreed, “I haven’t missed her at all… think they have run out of storylines for her.”
“I forgot about her, it’s been nice without her around,” a third remarked.
“She hasn’t been missed though really has she? Kinda pointless character,” another added.
Calls to improve Georgie Parker’s storylines
Others called for the writers to improve Roo’s storylines.
“I think they need to do something with her character. Bring her daughter back or a love interest that has stepkids! Something interesting, she’s become a nothing character,” one person declared.
“Georgie Parker is the best of all the senior female actors, she needs to be given a decent storyline. She has more ability in her little finger than either Ada Nicodemou or Emily Symons have in total,” another said.
“Emily [was given] good [storylines] last year and Ada got some interesting stuff to act out too… can we see Georgie get some meaningful things to act out?” a third asked.
When is Georgie Parker returning to Home and Away?
Georgie, who has played Roo Stewart for 14 years, shared an update on her recovery from major surgery in early June.
The star was diagnosed with scoliosis when she was just 13 and has had two hip replacements in the past six years.
“I’m three weeks post-op, recovery is going well and I’ve had the most brilliant support from my family, my workplace and my incredible friends. Practicing patience now while I heal… so I can get back to work baby,” she wrote on Instagram.

Georgie was spotted on the Home and Away set in August, with a fan taking a photo of the star filming at Palm Beach.
The scene appears to show the characters Roo, Marilyn Chambers (Emily Symons) and Kirby Aramoana (Angelina Thomson) protesting.
The fan who took the photo said they were unable to see the details on the protest posters but believed the protest had to do with women.
This scene will likely appear on television around January or February, as the show films approximately five to six months in advance.
