Home and Away has been rocked by some massive storylines recently, but one that has ruffled feathers is Harper Matheson (Jessica Redmayne) falling pregnant with Tane Parata’s (Ethan Browne) baby. Considering his ex-wife Felicity Newman (Jacqui Purvis) just passed away, Tane isn’t in any state to start up a new relationship or think about becoming a father.
There’s also the Summer Bay curse which sees new parents leave the show once their baby enters the world. Of course, there are quite a few theories about whether or not Harper carries the baby to term, with some leaked snaps from the set showing the character filming with a baby bump just last week.
“Tane, Dana and Harper – yes, she is still filming [while visibly] pregnant. We see this in five to six months,” a fan wrote alongside the photos.
“It’s crazy as they are dragging Harper’s pregnancy out longer than the other characters’ pregnancies,” she added. “We know once [characters] have a baby they normally leave the show. Harper still has two years [on her] contract left I believe, and Tane – he signs new contracts often as he’s already done his three-year contract, so not sure when he is going to leave!
“I think something at birth will go wrong maybe before birth or just after birth, or maybe the producers change their minds and want to keep a baby on the show, but I very much doubt that as it’s hard using babies on the show, plus the budget as they have to use so many babies for it.”
She went on to explain that producers often use sets of twin babies to play one character due to strict filming requirements, which is why it can be such a hassle.
“They [used dolls] when Tori had her baby but still needed five babies [to play Grace], it still cost them. Also, Ziggy’s baby was played by four babies, they can’t always use dolls, I very much doubt [they will] but we will just have to wait and see,” she added.
Leaked video appears to show Harper has delivered her baby
Another video from the set, shared by CelebTime who run regular Home and Away tours, seemed to confirm that Harper will have her baby in approximately five to six months time.
“Looks like the baby has been born. Video from filming last week shows Tane, Mac, Dana and Mali having celebratory drinks on [the] Salt balcony,” a fan shared in a Facebook group. “Bad sound but I did hear something like, ‘Dana was there’, Tane when leaving said he was off to see Harper. Filming time would be about right for [a] February birth.”
Fans agreed with this, with one asking: “Are they cheersing the fact he’s a daddy now? Has the news of that been dropped?”
At this stage, while Tane and Harper have been seen interacting for the sake of the baby, there are no signs pointing towards a romantic relationship between the two.
“They have been seen filming together but haven’t been seen filming as a couple, so that is just a waiting game to see if they get together or just baby [co-parenting],” a fan revealed.
