At the hospital, tensions are fraught between Mackenzie and Mali. Mackenzie still can’t move past Mali’s involvement in Levi’s stabbing, especially not while Levi is still fighting for his life.
When Mali checks for missed calls from Iluka, Mac snaps and declares that she doesn’t want to hear about his “stupid brother”. Bree checks on the patient and Dana updates her, explaining that he’s hypertensive. She orders a chest drain, and before long Levi is cracking jokes with his medical team. Bree tells Mackenzie that it’s looking positive.
At Levi’s bedside, Mali admits to Mackenzie that he hasn’t told Rose anything. He’s determined to find where the Allens have taken his brother and sort it himself. He’s got no leads on Iluka, though. When Bree queries whether he should be talking to the police, he shuts her down.
Finally, when Rose is taking Levi’s statement, Mali interrupts to ask Mac for a favour – he needs her to downplay Iluka’s involvement with the Allens when she talks to the police. Initially she’s furious, but when Mali asks how she’d feel if it was her own brother, she takes pause.
Mackenzie is weighing the options with Levi later when suddenly, his monitor sounds as he tenses. Mackenzie’s terrified and calls out for help – will Levi be okay?
Meanwhile, Leah and Irene remain at loggerheads over Bronte’s lawsuit. Leah can’t believe her partner would go behind her back like this, but Irene remains singularly focused on helping to save Bronte’s life.
When Leah tells Dana that the insurance company won’t pay out their claim, she suggests they ask Bronte not to sue them, but Irene’s not having it. Later, Dana issues Irene a warning – she could lose her friendship with Leah over this. Will Irene be able to course-correct their partnership?
