On August 3, Paramount held an outdoor screening at Preikestolen cliff (Norway), also known as Pulpit Rock. This is the scene of the final action scene of the film, when spy Ethan Hunt (played by Tom Cruise) confronts the villain. 2,000 fans responded to this event and had to travel four hours to reach the location more than 600 meters high.
On Twitter, Tom Cruise posted a photo of the group watching the movie and said: “2,000 feet, 2,000 people, four hours of walking. The most impossible screening of the movie. Thank you all. I wish I could be there”. Previously, to film here, the film crew had to use helicopters to transport supplies during the three-day filming process.
Preikestolen is a steep cliff with a 25 square meter flat surface (filming site). The cliff is located on Lysefjorden fjord with majestic scenery. Every year, between 150,000 and 200,000 people visit Preikestolen. Many tourists perform daring parachute jumps from the mountain. Mission: Impossible 6 is not the first film to be filmed at Preikestolen. Previously, in the final scene of the second season of the series Vikings (2013), the main character – the hero Ragnar Lothbrok – stood on this place.
Mission: Impossible 6, directed by Christopher McQuarrie, tells the story of Ethan Hunt’s battle with a terrorist group that wants to upset the world order. The work was praised for its beautifully staged action elements, in which Tom Cruise himself performed many of his own stunts. The film topped the US box office last week and has now earned $199 million worldwide.
