John Goodman is recovering after being injured during production on Alejandro González Iñárritu’s untitled upcoming film for Warner Bros. and Legendary, starring Tom Cruise.
A Warner Bros. spokesperson said in a statement that the actor “suffered a hip injury.”
“He received immediate medical attention, which resulted in a brief delay in filming to allow him time to recover,” the statement continued. “Production will resume next week once John has fully recovered.”
The untitled film, which is the first to come out of Cruise’s new deal with Warner Bros. and is Iñárritu’s first English-language film since The Revenant starring Leonardo DiCaprio nearly a decade ago, and is scheduled to hit theaters on October 2, 2026, coinciding with the original release date of the studio’s Batman sequel.
The film stars Cruise as the most powerful man in the world who sets out on a quest to prove himself as the savior of humanity before the catastrophe he unleashes destroys everything. Iñárritu co-wrote the script with Sabina Berman, Alexander Dinelaris, and Nicolás Giacobone. Legendary’s Mary Parent is producing with Iñárritu and Cruise.
