Lainey Wilson is one of the newcomers in Yellowstone season 5 and she plays musician Abby. How old is the singer?
Lainey Wilson is a popular country singer who is making her acting debut in Yellowstone season five. In her recurring role, she stars as Abby, a touring singer who has found a new fanbase in Montana.
How old is Lainey Wilson?
Lainey Wilson wrote her first song when she was nine years old and has been performing from an early age.
Born in Louisiana, she travelled over to Nashville to pursue her career as a country performer.
Her first album was released in 2014 and she has gone on to become an award-winning artist.
The star has never been in front of a camera for a TV series before, and she was excited to step out of her comfort zone.
Lainey was born in May 1992, making her 31 years old as of 2023.
She was raised in Baskin, a town with only 300 residents, with her father being a farmer and her mother a schoolteacher.
Her family would often listen to Country music and she remembers attending one of her first concerts at nine years old.
Her father taught her the basics before she started writing her own songs.
In high school, she took on a job as a Hannah Montana impersonator, performing at birthday parties and festivals.
After leaving school, she moved to Nashville and lived in a camper trailer outside of a recording studio.
She played a number of small shows and worked on her songwriting before signing a management deal in 2018.
By 2020 her music was being played on the radio, and she has just released her latest album, Bell Bottom Country.
Lainey spoke to Express.co.uk about her acting debut and how she has known John Dutton star Kevin Costner for a long time.
She said: “I actually didn’t get to see Kevin on set, he’s just as busy if not busier than I am.
“But he has supported my music for years now, he has posted about my songs and stuff like that on his Instagram.”
She hopes Yellowstone will provide another platform for her music as she hopes to reach a wider audience.
She said: “It really just introduced my music to a crowd of people who might not listen to the radio or might not have streaming services.
“A lot of people come to my shows and they say ‘I found you through Yellowstone’, it’s just absolutely insane.”
Her music has already been featured three times over the course of the series.
She was also chosen to perform exclusively for the cast and crew, as well as during the commercial breaks in the season four finale.
The star added: “I’m so grateful for the opportunity to not only step outside my comfort zone and explore acting but to share more of my music on such an incredible platform, especially one that fans eagerly look to for music discovery.”
She won New Female Artist of the Year at the 2021 Academy of Country Music Awards and bagged New Artist of the Year at the 2022 Country Music Association Awards.
