Clint Eastwood has remarkably impressed his fans with his filmmaking craft but his acting skill is something that brought him to recognition in the first place. During his well-established era, he met Meryl Streep while working in the 1995 film, The Bridges of Madison County with the duo making a great bond that continued to stay strong.

“That’s a tough one, isn’t it? I’d have to go for Trump…you know, ’cause she’s declared that she’s gonna follow in Obama’s footsteps.”

He continued to express his conservative political thought stating,

“There’s been just too much funny business on both sides of the aisle. She’s made a lot of dough out of being a politician. I gave up dough to be a politician. I’m sure that Ronald Reagan gave up dough to be a politician.”

Speaking of what he thought about the first woman presidential nominee by a major American political party, he stated,

“I mean, it’s a tough voice to listen to for four years. It could be a tough one. If she’s just gonna follow what we’ve been doing, then I wouldn’t be for her.”

His opinions seemed to shock his The Bridges of Madison County co-star, Meryl Streep who decided to take things in her hand to approach him.

She continued,

“I’m shocked. I really am. Because he’s more — I would have thought he would be more sensitive than that.”

She worked with him in the 1995 film which he produced and directed apart from starring alongside her. Set in 1965, the film features Streep’s character Francesca Johnson who lives with her husband and two children on their Iowa farm. The same year, she met she meets National Geographic photojournalist, Robert Kincaid played by Eastwood, who visits the place to capture its historic covered bridges. During the short time, the duo gets indulged in an intense, four-day love affair.

The film was a critical success earning $182 million worldwide. It even led Streep to get an Oscar nomination for her performance.
