Actors in Hollywood often face stiff competition from their peers. However, Sylvester Stallone recently revealed in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that even the biggest stars could be victims of sabotage. Stallone claimed that Arnold Schwarzenegger tried to sabotage his career by convincing him to appear in the 1992 comedy Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot.
Stallone claims that Schwarzenegger was aware of the film and intended to star in it. It seems Schwarzenegger had other plans, but Stallone was determined to beat him to it.

The Hollywood rivalry between Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger dates back many years. Both have been known to compete for roles and take public shots at one another. The two used to be at odds, but they’ve reconciled over the years.
Stallone wrote and directed 2010’s The Expendables, which marked the pair’s first on-screen reunion. After the film’s success, they teamed up again in 2013’s Escape Plan. Despite working together on screen, the two seem unable to put their past rivalry behind them.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Stallone revealed he and Schwarzenegger had a falling out. According to Stallone, Schwarzenegger d uped him into appearing in the 1992 comedy Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot, which the actor now considers a low point in his career.
Arnold Schwarzenegger Thinks He Was Set Up
Schwarzenegger said it was “100 percent true” that he set up Stallone, confirming the actor’s claims.
“Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot was supposed to be like Throw Momma From the Train with the mom as this really nasty piece of work. Instead you hire the nicest woman in Hollywood, Estelle Getty, who you wish was your mother. That’s the end of that! Also, I had heard Schwarzenegger was going to do that movie and I said, ‘I’m going to beat him to it,’ I think he set me up. It’s 100 percent true. In those days we did all kinds of crazy things to get ahead in our rivalry. Luckily for us and everyone else, today, we root for each other. Thank God, because we sure don’t ever need another Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot.”
Stallone claims that Schwarzenegger was aware of the film and intended to star in it. Stallone, however, beat him to the punch when he agreed to play Joe Bomowski, a tough cop who must contend with his mother’s intrusive interference in his life. According to Stallone, Schwarzenegger later called him to say he now wanted Stallone to star in the film instead of himself.
Stallone thought he had outwitted Schwarzenegger by agreeing to star in the film. Stallone, however, claims that Schwarzenegger framed him. Stallone claims Schwarzenegger intentionally set him up for failure by making this film, both critically and commercially.
