His impressive career has enabled him to use his fame to get out of difficult situations, including being persecuted by the law. Once the Guardians of the Galaxy star even lied to the police to avoid getting caught.
Sylvester Stallone Lied To The Police To Avoid Confrontation
Sylvester Stallone is an acting genius with many notable works across different genres. One of his most memorable works is Rambo, in which he plays a Vietnam War veteran. Despite being apprehensive about the film’s success, the film became a blockbuster resulting in many successive films. However, some people were not welcoming enough of the film and criticized it. It was this fact that Stallone used to leverage his way out of getting a speed ticket.
When caught overspeeding in Arizona back in the late 1980s, Sylvester Stallone was pulled over by some cops, and he used his film to avoid getting a speeding ticket.
“I said: ‘Did you see ’em? Did you see ’em? Did you cut them off? Are they still there?!’ And he went: ‘What?’ And I said: ‘There’s about eight guys with guns! Shit! I was running for my life. Do me a favor. Take me in, impound the car, they’re out to kill me. I don’t know what it is. People didn’t like Rambo, there’s this radical group, they’ve been threatening me and writing letters, now they finally caught up with me’”
Alarmed by this, the cops then escorted the star to safety,
“Well, the cop escorted me all the way to the border, [saying]: ‘I’ll sit with you Rambo, I’ll protect you Rocky’. And I’m like: ‘Thank you officer’.”
And thus the Demolition Man used his wit to avoid a police confrontation.
Sylvester Stallone Once Believed Rambo Could End His Career
Despite using Rambo as a getaway from the police, the 77-year-old used to believe that his film could end his career. As production started, the star was apprehensive about the audience’s reaction and the characters, and he felt the film lacked any selling point. He even once stated in an interview,
“I thought it was going to be the end of my career. The book was interesting, but I thought he was such a psychopath, it would never fly. Every day I worried. When we saw the first cut it was devastatingly bad. My agent said: ‘Maybe we can buy it back’.”
However, all his fears were uprooted after seeing the final cut, and the Rambo franchise now boasts a massive worldwide gross of about $819 million.
