The actor was spotted at New York City’s JFK airport, sporting salt and pepper hair on Tuesday, October 15. The rare public outing came after Tom, 79, spoke out about Blue Bloods ending with season 14, much to his dismay.
“I’m kind of frustrated,” he told TV Insider on October 3. “During those last eight shows, I haven’t wanted to talk about an ending for Blue Bloods but about it still being wildly successful.”
Out and About
Tom wrapped a brown scarf around his neck to combat the chilly NYC air as the weather transitions to fall.
Going for Casual
The Magnum, P.I. alum sported blue jeans and a pair of hiking shoes for the outing.
Opening Up About the End of an Era
“My frustration is the show was always taken for granted because it performed from the get-go. So how do I feel? It’s going to take a long time to sort all of this out,” Tom further said of Blue Bloods’ cancellation. “I remember after the weekend [of the final episode’s shoot], I said, ‘I’ve got to get to bed early tonight because I have to do my dialogue for Monday.’ Well, there was no Monday. It’s just going to take a while.”
Missing the Cast
He did not hesitate when he was asked about what he will miss most about the show.
“The actors. The family of actors is as close as the Reagan family and the characters that they play,” Tom revealed. “There’s isn’t a single one of them who didn’t want to come back. Most shows don’t end that way — there’s petty jealousy and all sorts of things– and we seemed to overcome that. It’s something for everybody to hang their hats on and be proud of.”
What’s Next for Tom Selleck?
As for what’s next for the star after Blue Bloods, he said, “I need to regroup; I don’t know what’s next, but assuming the phone doesn’t stop ringing, I’m going to keep working.”
