Was ‘Cry Macho’ The Final Film Of Clint Eastwood’s Career?

A report I published last August is now giving me eerie vibes.

The gist of my piece was that, according to a solid source of mine, Eastwood had pitched a new movie to the David Zaslav-headed Warner and ensuingly got rejected.

Prior to that, Zaslav had a lot of issues with Eastwood’s most recent box office failure, “Cry Macho.” In a now-leaked conference call, Zaslav expressed his displeasure with the movie’s failure, suggesting that despite Warners’ five-decade support of him, they owed Clint no favors.

Eastwood is turning 93 in two months. Odds are that he only has a couple more films left in him — at most. He’s also released nine films in the last eleven years. He’s worked very fast, hopping from one project to the next at lightning speed.

As far as we know, Eastwood has no project brewing. We’ve even heard reports this week about Eastwood having not been seen publicly in over a year, sparking fears about the health of the 92-year-old actor.

His last movie release was 2021’s “Cry Macho”, which he produced, directed, and starred in. In his 80s, Eastwood directed strong fare such as Richard Jewell, The Mule, Sully, and American Sniper.

Eastwood has been making movies with Warners for over 50 years now. It’s been one of the most trust-worthy and long-lasting director/studio friendships in the industry.

Maybe “Cry Macho” was indeed his last one.
