1923 fans we have good news and bad news. The good news is that we know the Yellowstone prequel, 1923 season 2, is officially happening on Paramount+! The eight-episode season will continue the story of the Dutton family. The bad news is that we don’t think the episodes will be released this year in 2023.
There’s been multiple shows and movies affected by the ongoing writers strike. And now, 1923 has been added to the mix. According to NBC Montana, filming was supposed to begin on June 5, 2023 in Butte, Montana. However the Civic City Manager Bill Melvin received word from the production company that filming will be “delayed indefinitely.” And as of June 20, 2023, there’s still no update on when filming could start back up again.

No release date has been announced for Yellowstone: 1923 season 2 by Paramount+ yet. And as of right now, it seems like we’re going to be waiting a while for an announcement and the season debut. It hasn’t been confirmed that the second season won’t come in 2023, but we’re predicting that time is tight and it could possibly be pushed to 2024.
We’re not 100% sure how the scheduling will look like, but leading 1923 actor Harrison Ford is quite busy working on other projects as well, which could possibly delay filming further. There’s films There’s movies Thunderbolts and Captain America 4 (Captain America: Brave New World), as well as Shrinking on Apple TV+ which has already been renewed for a second season.
Our prediction is that we possibly won’t see the new season until 2024. But really, everything is very unclear right now since we don’t know if and when the writers and studios will come to an agreement soon. Hopefully they’ll be able to do so in the near future!
