All eight episodes of the first part of Yellowstone Season 5 will be available to stream exclusively on Peacock on May 25.

The Dutton family is on their way to Peacock to film several new episodes of Yellowstone. Yellowstone Season 5’s first eight episodes will all be made exclusively on Peacock available for streaming starting on May 25. The brand-new episodes are accessible on the service along with the four seasons prior.

In Yellowstone Season 5, the Dutton family fights to defend their ranch and way of life. Family secrets strain the Duttons, and political aspirations and outside partnerships threaten their future.

Over the weekend, Paramount announced Yellowstone is ending with the conclusion of Season 5. A Yellowstone sequel series starring Matthew McConaughey and (potentially) other cast members from the flagship series is planned.

According to an official release from Davis Glasser at 101 Studios, one of the production entities involved with the show, “The Dutton story continues, picking up where Yellowstone leaves off in another epic tale. We are thrilled to bring this new journey to audiences around the world.”

The Yellowstone cancellation follows several months of rumors revolving around Kevin Costner’s alleged reluctance to commit to a significant shooting schedule for the series. Numerous reports say the Yellowstone star was only willing to return to shoot one additional week for the remaining episodes of Season 5. It remains to be seen how much of a role Costner’s John Dutton plays in the remaining episodes.

Could John Dutton, played by Costner, die before the Season 5 finale? Possibly. Yellowstone airs on Peacock, not Paramount+, the network’s own streaming service, so there is drama linked to the notion that he might come back. If Costner were to make a comeback, it might look like the studio was pulling a fast one, so it’s probable that his departure will be permanent. Nevertheless, a sequel series, even if it has a lot of the same cast, will stream on Paramount+. If the rumors of hostility between Costner and showrunner Taylor Sheridan are accurate, this aspect of his departure is especially true. Sheridan is one of the industry’s most productive showrunners, having created a number of successful films for Paramount+, including Mayor of Kingstown, Tulsa King, and the Yellowstone prequels 1883.
