Back in 1994, Robin Williams won a People’s Choice Award for Favorite Actor in a Comedy Motion Picture for his work in Mrs.
Doubtfire, a role that had him walking down the streets of San Francisco dressed up as an old lady. While giving his acceptance speech, his moment was ambushed by none other than Tom Cruise, and in a true Williams’ manner, the actor made it a moment that we will never forget.
It was the same year Cruise won Favorite Actor In A Dramatic Motion Picture for The Firm, and let’s just say that the shared moment probably made their wins a lot more memorable. Spotting Cruise in the room, Williams shouts, “I love you, Tom! Tom, I love you!” as dramatically as he could.
He then went on to praise the superstar and also mentioned Cruise’s Interview with the Vampire, stating, “You are a vampire now!” The two then hugged before Cruise joined Williams on stage, prompting the latter to jokingly state that they looked “like a before and after commercial.”
