Like any good fans, we at General Hospital Spoilers have our favorites, and in the past few months, Gregory Chase (Gregory Harrison) has truly cemented himself as one of our faves. We would really love to see him stay on the show.
Though that’s the kind of plot we’ve grown accustomed to, this one will hurt since the writer decided to make him a really interesting character at the same time as the show had him diagnosed with ALS, for which there is now no treatment.
Although it’s evident that they’re working according to the same plan as when Mike Corbin (Max Gail) was introduced into Sonny Corinthos’s (Maurice Benard) life and then removed after the two grew close.
“General Hospital” Spoilers are still holding out hope that a fan theory about Gregory being misdiagnosed hold true, though it’s highly unlikely.
Going out with a bang
Although it is never enjoyable for us to lose a character to a disease, doing so serves to highlight the illness, increase awareness, and raise money for research.
What will hurt more than the illness, though, is that Gregory has developed some wonderful friendships with Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) and Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn).
Even if he and Alexis are only close friends, the show has hinted that he and Tracy may be getting closer.
Gregory has proven to be a power as well because of his ability to quickly and unwaveringly confront Tracy, who is a force to be reckoned with.
In addition, he excels in backgammon.
They’re quickly formed a very cool relationship and he’s one of the few people that brings out Tracy’s humanity for us to see and enjoy.
For that, they’re the perfect couple and they’d be so much fun to watch as they continue to grow their relationship over the next few years.
But unfortunately that doesn’t appear to be in the plans.
All good things…
Gregory has been touching hearts all over Port Charles as well as with fans, and we have no doubt the next few months or even year will be some great emotional drama as his disease continues to worsen as he and Tracy grow closer.
Gregory won’t have to die from ALS if there is any chance that a discovery will be made, Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton), or someone else will observe something.
Although it’s unlikely, we’d like to see it happen so he may continue to be around and share more wonderful memories with Tracy.
