A familiar face appeared to pay tribute to Jacklyn Zeman and Bobbie Spencer.
Former child actress Brighton Hertford lost her gig as BJ Jones, the daughter of Tony and the late Tania and Bobbie’s adopted daughter when General Hospital told the story of Maxie’s heart transplant story nearly 30 years ago. Now, Hertford is back in Port Charles, playing a new character who shares a special connection to the late Bobbie Spencer.
Brighton Hertford Returns to General Hospital
Sure, she’s been gone for three decades but eagle-eyed GH viewers noticed right away that journalist Angela Brighton, who appeared at Bobbie’s memorial today, was played by Brighton Hertford (ex-BJ). Angela is an Associated Press journalist stationed in Amsterdam, whom Bobbie was helping with a story on women who’ve been trafficked. This story reveal and casting not only pays tribute to Hertford but also to Bobbie’s desire to help save women from a life that she was drawn into when she felt she had no other options.
Hertford wasn’t the only actor who played one of Bobbie’s children to return for this special episode. Ryan Carnes reprised his part as Dr. Lucas Jones to pay tribute to Zeman and Bobbie.
Since exiting GH, Hertford has continued to act. Her credits include the films Clean Blood, Wildlife, and The Parent Trap. She’s also appeared in the TV shows Everwood, The Ellen Show, NYPD Blue, and 7th Heaven.
Adding special guests into tribute episodes is nothing new to GH. The show invited John Reilly’s (ex-Sean) real-life daughter, Caitlin Reilly, to appear in its tribute to the late secret agent/PC Police Commissioner as the character of Annie, a WSB operative. Kristina Wagner (Felicia) spoke to Soap Hub about Zeman and GH’s memorial episodes, which air today and tomorrow.
