Farmer Wants A Wife Star Farmer Joe Answers Question Fans Have Been Asking For Weeks

When Channel Seven announced Farmer Wants A Wife was open for single ladies looking for love to apply for the show last July, there were eight farmers for the women to choose from. However, in February when they confirmed who would be appearing on the show, there were only five farmers from the original eight.

Fans were left wondering why this was the case, with one fan asking, “I’m always curious why you cast for so many extra farmers? You had eight and now there are five? At what point are they cut and why?”

“What happened to Farmer Todd??” another fan asked, while a third added, “What happened to farmer Nick?!”

“Weren’t there meant to be eight farmers like on the website? 🤔,” someone else asked.

“There were eight farmers, how come now only five?” yet another questioned.

Speaking to Yahoo Lifestyle, Farmer Joe Bobbin filled us in on what happens during the application process and why this is the case.

“Well, that’s a question I’ve had as well,” he says with a laugh. “I was one of those, there was eight of us, I think… and they [production] come out, and they shoot backstories and things like that, and then they’re like, ‘Now, this doesn’t mean you’re on, this doesn’t mean you’re going to be on the show. There’s eight farmers, we pick five,’ so you’re really in limbo for the whole way.

“And every step is the same, they’re constantly reminding you, ‘This doesn’t mean you’re coming on the show, this doesn’t mean anything.’ And yeah, I actually don’t know what made my profile be picked over the other three. I’ve got no idea, but I’m glad it did!”

Joe adds that he didn’t find out he was going to be on the show until a week before filming kicked off.

“Yeah, I literally got a phone call from production and they were like, ‘Congratulations, you’re one of the five and get ready for next week… you’re off!'” he explains.

“Even before my profile was [announced], we filmed the backstory, they said, ‘Don’t get too excited, you’re still not on there.’ And then even right up to – I got a phone call saying, ‘Listen we want to promote you as one of our eight farmers,’ I still had a choice then to proceed or not and they gave me a bit of time to think about it and I said, ‘Yep, let’s go for it.’

“And then within 24 hours, bang, it was everywhere! Everything just moved so quickly, had no idea if it was happening, if it wasn’t happening, yeah, it was a bit of a whirlwind!”

So, there you have it, it seems as though not even the farmers knew whether or not they’d end up on the show!
