General Hospital Spoilers: Cyrus Renault Changed but Old Habits Die Hard

Spoilers for General Hospital many wonder if Cyrus Renault (played by Jeff Kober) has truly changed or if he is still the terrible man who haunted Port Charles.

We think he’s a different guy, and there’s a reason for that, though we know this will surprise a few.

Even while it’s easy to laugh at someone convicted of horrible crimes who claims to have discovered God, it’s a real phenomenon that each person interprets differently.

We believe Cyrus has truly changed and regrets his past actions and lifestyle, yet deep down he remains a streetwise criminal since those kinds of habits are hard to break.

He seems genuine

He looks genuinely sincere, whether he was discovering Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) asleep in the shower, wishing Laura Collins (Genie Francis) the best, or apologizing to Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr).

Obviously, when he pontificates so much, he pushes too hard. Anyone finds it difficult to take, but those who believe he’s attempting to trick them into letting down their guard find it more difficult.

“General Hospital” doesn’t blame anyone for having doubts, especially in light of the fact that he left the country through dubious means—though no one is aware of this at this time.

That old part of him is still there, he’s just on a different goal, despite his desire to do good.

Out with the trash

We think Cyrus wants to do good, but the only way he knows how is by manipulation and force, hence the tactics he used to get out of Pentonville.

He’s also been jealous of Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) for being a respected businessman in Port Charles while his hands are just as dirty as Cyrus’, and that’s where things get a little twisted.

Cyrus is intent on bringing Sonny down because he’s hurting people, but Cyrus is also willing to hurt people to ensure he succeeds.

Granted, he ordered Ava Jerome (Maura West) to be let go, so he’s trying to avoid collateral damage as much as possible, but how long will that last?

While he has changed, it appears to us that he has turned into a deranged version of himself who believes that by righting Sonny’s wrongs, he is serving God.

He will ultimately become even more dangerous as a result of this because he will become a zealot and believe he is right. As a result, he will fight even harder to win and see evil defeated.

What do you suppose Cyrus has in mind? Has he changed for the better or worse? Please share your thoughts in the comments section below, and be sure to return to “General Hospital” for the most recent rumors, spoilers, and developments.
