Hollywood actor Sylvester Stallone is a passionate actor and has had an amazing career in Hollywood. Popular for starring in sports and action dramas like Rocky and Rambo, he continues to put out the best for the audience, even at the age of 76. And he is all set to reprise one of his popular characters from The Expendables in the fourth installment of the franchise. The movie is set to release later this year, marking the return of the elite group of mercenaries.

The film series has multiple action sequences, and sometimes performing such stunts goes wrong, as happened with the Rocky star while filming The Expendables 3.

Sylvester Stallone Suffered a Back Injury During The Expendables 3

Sylvester Stallone, who grades the quality of the film by the intensity of the injury, has suffered multiple injuries throughout his career. Some of these also happened while featuring in the action-adventure franchise The Expendables. He suffered a hairline fracture while filming the 2010 film, The Expendables.

This resulted in having a metal plate inserted in his neck for him to continue filming. He again suffered a critical injury while filming The Expendables threequel. The actor shared the incident while promoting the 2014 film in a press conference.

He shared that he fell on his back during the filming, which caused him to have a metal plate inserted in his back. “In this one, I ended up really taking a fall on my back and ended up having some metal inserted in there,” he said before adding, “So if I’m squeaky, then it’s not my shoes, it’s my back!”

However, Stallone’s belief did not sit well with the threequel, as it became the lowest-grossing movie in the franchise, making only $214 million worldwide. Critics also did not seem too impressed with the movie, as they called it “A wasted opportunity” and gave it only a 31% critic score.

Sylvester Stallone Plans to Say Goodbye to The Expendables

Sylvester Stallone plays the leader of The Expendables, Barney Ross, in the action-adventure film series since the 2010 movie. The actor has expressed his wish to move on from the character and wants his co-star Jason Statham to take the lead in the franchise afterward. In an Instagram post, the Rambo star shared that he completed the filming of The Expendables 4.

He further stated that he worked on the film series for the past 12 years and is “ready to pass the baton on to Jason [Statham] and his capable hands.” It has led many to believe that Stallone won’t be returning as Barney Ross in the potential future movies in the series. And Jason Statham’s character Lee Christmas would most likely take over as the leader of the group.
