As fans await the return of Yellowstone’s fifth season, viewers got to learn more about the 17-year-old actress behind Haile, Orli Gottesman. The star opened up about the filming struggles she overcame as well as missing out on homecoming to film season five.
The last time Yellowstone hit the screens was back in January when John Dutton (played by Kevin Costner) was betrayed by his son Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley).
Season five also brought the prospect of teenage romance to the ranch with the introduction of Carter’s (Finn Little) love interest, Haile.
She made her first appearance during John’s MEPP and branding event. As singer Abby (Lainey Wilson) took the stage, Haile asked Carter for a dance.
After this sparked a frenzy among Yellowstone fans, the young actress spoke about filming season five while still attending school.
Orli told Monday Morning Critic Podcast: “There’s definitely some struggles trying to balance, I wouldn’t consider myself a normal teenage girl.
“For certain reasons, it’s hard for me to do the kind of things that a normal teenager would do.
“My mindset’s completely different, just like based off of my priorities, this week is my homecoming week and everyone’s worried about getting their votes and posting all that stuff.
“That stuff is just over my head, I don’t actually pay attention to it.”
The actress continued: “As much as I thought that I’d never have a high school experience, but it’s like you take and you get.
“I’d much rather have what I have now.
“It’s tricky trying to balance my friends, my social life, being that teenage girl and relationships and having to leave for weeks at a time, to go meet these amazing people and do amazing things.”
Orli added: “Hopefully someday get big but I’m living my dream and I’ll make the sacrifices I need to.”
As well as a potential romance in store for Haile and Carter, the newcomer could potentially clash with his fierce adoptive mother, Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly).
Carter was first introduced in season four as the troubled son of an addict and after meeting Beth, the two bonded and she took an instant liking to him.
Soon after his father died, Beth became his guardian and he moved to the ranch under Beth and her husband Rip Wheeler’s (Cole Hauser) care.
When Orli’s casting was first announced, Yellowstone provided a detailed insight into her character.
They revealed: “In Season five, Halie becomes that person who gives Carter the chance to come out of his shell and to teach him not only about himself, but he finds himself always wanting Halie to be around.
“Halie comes along and now there is someone who can fit that mould and be there for him.”
With the first half of season five wrapped up, fans were left twiddling their thumbs as Paramount Plus has not yet announced a release date for part two.
However, fans can anticipate an explosive instalment as John could finally confront Jamie and discover his conniving schemes to take over
