Rita Wilson is celebrating a special occasion with her husband Tom Hanks, and fans can’t get enough of the sweet tribute she paid to him online.

The 1883 guest star celebrated her Oscar-winning husband’s birthday on July 9, and Rita went on Instagram to publicly voice how much she loves and appreciates having Tom in her life. Posting an image of the actor from what appears to be a vacation, she couldn’t help but get emotional about marking the day after almost four decades of being married to one another.

“Happy Birthday to this man who is my lover, my best friend, my family, the father of my children,” she captioned the image. “He loves a typewriter just slightly less than me, 😂 (why is there no typewriter emoji?), invents cocktails… DJ’s regularly on @bossradio66, is happiest being [surrounded] by his family and friends, and has committed to telling the stories of veterans and has created his own coffee brand supporting veterans.”

Rita continued: “He is one of the smartest people I know, has made me laugh everyday for 38 years [and] can nap anywhere at any time. Happy happy birthday my love! 🎂💕🌸💐💕🎂🌸💐💕🎂🌸🎂💕🌸.”

When fans of the Yellowstone prequel noticed Rita’s heartfelt dedication to Tom on social media, it immediately sparked a reaction. They went to the comments section to share how much they adored seeing the actress be vocal about her feelings for her husband.

“Such a sweet tribute! You two are goals for sure!! Happy Birthday Tom!” one person wrote on Instagram. “You are gifted to have found each other,” a different viewer exclaimed. “Tom, you are blessed to have Rita as your wife ❤️,” another added.

Some viewers may remember that both Rita and Tom made guest appearances in 1883 season 1. At the time, Tom portrayed General George Meade, who consoled James Dutton (Tim McGraw) in the aftermath of the Battle of Antietam in the Civil War. Rita portrayed George’s wife Carolyn, a storekeeper at Doan’s Crossing who later befriends James’ wife Margaret (Faith Hill).

Who knows, with all the buzz regarding the 1883 spin-off Lawmen: Bass Reeves, Tom and Rita could potentially be back on our screens soon…
