The Top Gun: Maverick star made his way to one of the music icon’s concerts last month, recently gushing about the songstress and her performance at an event on Monday, June 19.
At the world premiere of his new action film, Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One, held at the Auditorium della Conciliazione in Rome, he chatted about his experience at the show, detailing exactly how he felt to be in the crowd of the “Rhythm Nation” artist’s display.
“I just want to tell you to go see Janet,” he told ET after revealing he had attended the event on his “night off.”
“That was a moment, yeah,” he said, laughing, adding that it was actually his “last break.”
Cruise—who was celebrating the seventh installment in the hit Mission: Impossible franchise in the Italian country—divulged he went all out for the concert, singing along and thoroughly enjoying himself… and for good reason.
“Come on! It’s Janet—she’s a legend,” the actor said, hardly able to contain his excitement about watching her perform live.
Following the show, Jackson took to Instagram with a snapshot of the two stars from backstage, where they stood smiling against a wall as Cruise wrapped his arm around her shoulders.
The five-time Grammy award winner even revealed her nickname for the American Made actor, writing, “T, it was so good seeing you and nice spending some time together 😊,” in the caption of the May 13 post.

“Yeah, she calls me T. Look, she can call me whatever she wants. She’s Janet Jackson! She’s a goddess… She is a goddess,” Cruise appropriately responded when asked about the pet name.
Fans in the comments of the social media upload, on the other hand, couldn’t get over how ageless the duo appeared in the capture, as they took to the comment section, dropping things like, “Tom and Janet said legends don’t age LOL,” and “FOREVER YOUNG!”
