Why Did General Hospital Choose The Least Interesting Story Option?

How Kristina, Molly and TJ’s GH story will play out.

First, General Hospital all but flashed bright lights in our faces to telegraph that Kristina would end up being Molly and TJ’s surrogate. But then Molly decided she resented her sister, she’d always resented her sister, and she would never, ever let Kristina do something nice for her, ever. So, Molly and TJ went with a professional to carry their baby. OK, problem solved. Well, not exactly.

General Hospital: Win Or Lose

Molly (Kristen Vaganos) and TJ’s (Tajh Bellow) surrogate ended up losing the baby. Which was devastating to Molly who had been dreaming of being a mother for minutes now. She feels like they’re back to square one. Who, oh, who will they get to give them the gift of a child now? Oh, woe, woe is she!

As Clear as the Nose on Your Face

Kristina (Kate Mansi). It is so obviously going to be Kristina that we feel bad wasting the cyber-ink to type it. Kristina will be Molly and TJ’s surrogate, exactly as the story w as suggesting from the start. The other woman was merely a red herring to make us think GH wasn’t as obvious as we feared. Which, in our opinion, is a mistake.

A storyline with Kristina as the surrogate is destined to follow a series of predictable beats. Kristina begs her sister to let her do Molly a favor. Molly resists. Molly changes her mind. Kristina gets pregnant. Molly is reluctantly grateful. Molly and TJ make plans for their baby. Kristina grows attached to the baby. Kristina decides she doesn’t want to give up the baby. Molly freaks. Molly sues. Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) mumbles something about sisterhood. TJ looks vaguely confused. There. We’ve saved you a year of viewing time.

Two Roads Branched Into a Wood

On the other hand, we know nothing about the surrogate — Andrea (Lily Anne Harrison). We don’t know what she wants, which means we don’t know what she’s going to do. It would have been nice to have some fresh blood on the canvas, especially one who isn’t related to practically every other major character. This story could have opened multiple possibilities. We’re hoping it still can. Fingers crossed that she’s lying about the miscarriage!
