It’s been a dramatic spring for the Yellowstone universe. First, a recap of all the bad stuff. Back in January, Season 5 Part 1 wrapped with Episode 8, initiating a likely seven-month wait for the remainder of the season, which was to begin airing sometime this summer. Then rumors began swirling about lead actor Kevin Costner’s scheduling conflicts (and demands), which appeared to be delaying the filming for Part 2. (Costner was simultaneously shooting another western, reportedly causing drama on the Yellowstone set.)
And then came rumors that Costner would leave Yellowstone altogether before Season 5 would even film its final episodes. And then, just last week, Paramount announced that not only would Season 5 get pushed to November (TBD on Costner’s role/involvement with the new episodes), but Season 5 would also be the last season of Yellowstone—which would transition into a not-yet-titled sequel series to air in December.)
So while Yellowstone is ending (the bad news), there’s still more Yellowstone content being produced, including both that new sequel series as well as another season of 1923, the second prequel series after the one-season run of 1883.
And now, the even better news for fans: that first half of Season 5 will be available to stream on Peacock on May 25.
Previously, only Seasons 1-4 were available on Peacock, forcing current season viewers to either pony up for cable (and watch the series on the Paramount Network website), or buy the show by episode.
Not anymore. Every episode of Yellowstone is now available to stream without cable. You’ll just have to wait a while to get Part 2. Almost six months, in fact.
Part 2 will also follow the previous airing format, appearing on Paramount Network and available to stream on the Paramount Network site—meaning you’ll need cable to watch it live; it will not appear on Paramount+.
So, yeah, more bad news.
